![]() ![]() If I sometimes seem slow to respond it'll just be the time zones (I'm in Ireland). To start in safe mode on a Mac: Turn on or restart your computer. Your computer will then boot in safe mode. All I need at the moment is which function key to use (rather than a range of keys that it 'may be'!). Use the arrow keys to highlight Safe Mode (or Safe Mode with Networking if you need to use the Internet to solve your problem), then press Enter. Although those I found are all re Windows 10, they're with other makes of computer, and I feel the less trial-and-error the better with these rather existential Windows issues. I am familiar with using function keys though, including pressing one repeatedly during startup to access BIOS etc, which still seems to be going strong and figures in the solutions. Though I've been using this notebook a bit, I haven't finished configuring it, and don't yet know what all the keys do, and haven't studied the manual (was going to finish setting up printing first, and haven't found a way of accessing the documentation from another device). (Unless you count one I installed and quickly uninstalled in the 1980s!). ![]() And also to Windows 10, my only previous Windows being Vista, and 98SE before that. But they're complicated by being new to the Envy (and HP computers in general). Details.of the problem itself are probably off-topic unless asked for, and I've found probable solutions online. It's my only way to access things like that at the moment, as a BSD has started filling the screen almost as soon as Windows has loaded.
